Bismillah
Begin with the end in mind
To begin a change, first we have to now what are the real purposes of life. In other words, why God created us. Let’s take a look at these two verses:
And I (Allâh) created not the jinn and mankind except that they should worship Me (Alone). (Adz-Dzaariyaat 51:56)
Behold thy Lord said to the angels: “I will create khalifah on earth.” (Al-Baqarah 2:30)
So based on these two verses, Allah has created us for two fundamental objectives: to be servants (‘aabid) and leaders (khalifah). We may have heard these two verses thousands of times, but do we really care about the meaning of ‘aabid and khalifah?

Assalamualaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh.
Thank you for your post on these two roles of Man. It’s not just one or the other that we need to become but both roles at same time.
Barakallahu fiq for your timely reminder.
